Cramming It All In...

Lots of thoughts with no organization...

Trae is napping, so I have a moment of peace.  I should definitely use my free time to pack, but I just feel like being lazy, you know?  Speaking of lazy, Trae napped so well yesterday, and so did I.  Every time he took a nap I did too.  Whatever.  You only live once... might as well sleep all you can.  That's how the saying goes, right?

Well, when I have not been sitting around being lazy, I have been packing.  I am at that point where you aren't sure if there is a lot left or maybe just a little.  Things are just so messy that you cant tell.

Last weekend, two of my dearest friends made a trip to Houston to see me.  Josh and Stephen came down here and we sure did have fun.  We went to Galveston, ate sushi, shopped, and ate lots more food.  Haha.  They made me try a wheat grass shot, and let me just say that I like liquor shots much more than an ounce of squeezed grass.  Who cares if one is better for you than the other.  I didn't want to dance on any tables after the wheat grass shot.  Lame!

I have been making all of Trae's food.  This is really important to me.  I did not get to breastfeed for as long as I wanted to, so I think that making all his food is my way of making it up to myself.  I have no doubt that he is healthy and thriving on formula.  I am in no way a breastfeeding Nazi.  However, I do want him to eat good food.  Today he ate avocado and loved it!  I think we are going to move on from the rice cereal.  It just isn't working for us.  I tested the stuff and don't blame him.  I would spit it all out too.

I have been getting really involved in our church lately.  Today was the women's Bible study, and it was quite enjoyable.  It feels good to be in the presence of people again.  Having a baby is kind of isolating in a way.

We are moving in one week.  Goodbye apartment!

Brief Update

Hey, guess what?  We are leaving the apartment life behind, FINALLY!  After three apartment moves, endless loud neighbors, mold, leaks, and oh so many more joys, we are going to be moving to a house.  I had previously written about us buying a house.  We did not end up buying.  Instead, we decided to pay off credit cards and other debts and continue renting for awhile longer.  I feel like this was a fantastic plan because I can now proudly say that we are almost debt free.  We still have the unfortunate car bill, hospital bill, and a washer and dryer to pay on, but really, we have come so far in a year!  I am really proud of us.

As soon as Trae wakes up from his nap, we are going to put down the deposit on our new rent house.  I am  really excited about this!  The house is three bedrooms and the garagehas been turned into one big game room.  It has a real washer/dryer room and a real kitchen!  Can you tell that I am happy about that?  What is even better is that all of our neighbors will be old people.  Ah, silence!

And now for a Trae update.  While Art was home, Trae had his first professional photo shoot.  He was great.  He smiled for every picture!  I was so proud.  Yesterday, he had his 4 month shots.  He didn't like them, but he was pretty good the rest of the day.  Also, he is now sleeping every night from 7pm to 7am.  I know, he is perfect.  Please don't steal him.  Oh, and one more thing... We are starting to try solids!  He hates them.  I can't wait to start making all the fun stuff, though.  We just have to get over the rice cereal first.

Okay, back to packing.

Moving

Yes, I have been absent from blogging again, but for good reason.  Art and I have been packing up our apartment so we can get outta here next time he is off work.  I am so excited to finally be in a house.  Other than packing with Art, we also had family pictures done.  There are some cute ones.  I will post as soon as we get the disc.  Well, I will probably not be posting too much in the next week, so don't give up on me.  I will be back as soon as I finish packing!

Cell Phone Pictures

Guess who still can't remember to bring the actual camera anywhere?  Yep, me.  However, I have my trusty phone, so here are a few pictures from today.

I was looking like a dirty hippie today.  Just no time to take a shower.  Oh well.

But, Trae was looking great.

And we look pretty cute together.

As usual, Moxy is obsessed with Trae

I think it is the fish on this mat that entice him.

In other news, we have new upstairs neighbors and I already want to shoot myself.  I was THRILLED when the old neighbors moved out.  They had one little kid who ran around the apartment all night.  Hey, if any of you are building apartments, don't put wood floors in them!  Anyhow, I was seriously that neighbor who called to complain every night.  I mean, the kid woke my baby up EVERY night.  Do you blame me?  And who moves in today?  Not one, but two little kids.  UGH.  I am pretty annoyed already.  Unless these children actually go to bed at a decent hour, the apartment better prepare for some calls.  I know, I know... I am a grumpy old lady, but you try to put a baby to sleep only to have him woken up thirty minutes later, then have to do it all over again.  Not cool.

As of Lately...

Maybe I am a little biased, but I just think that my little boy is cuter than all the other babies on the planet.

Now that I got that out there, let me tell you what I have been doing lately after Trae goes to bed... Working out. Yes, working out. I hate, loathe, hate, hate, hate working out. I would rather go two weeks without eating than run. Luckily, I have my old go-to work out video, Slim in Six. It is old school, for sure, but it sure does work. I am sore, and I think that is a good thing in the work out world. Basically, there are six videos in the series. Three are designed to be done for six weeks. The other three can be done in addition or for maintenance. The first is done for one week. It isn't too painful. Just about thirty minutes and it gets you accustomed to everything else you do in the following weeks. The next two are terribly painful and long and boring, but they sure do get results. So, in a P90X world, I stick with my Slim in Six.

After these six weeks, I plan to re-try Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. Um, this DVD is EVIL. I have never had a more painful twenty minutes... and all the jumping around probably drives the downstairs neighbors crazy.

Speaking of downstairs neighbors: Our lease is up in June. I think I previously talked about how we were building a house. Well, we are no longer. The main reason for this is because we did a lot of praying about getting a house and felt like God was saying no, this is not the right time. Then we realized that if we did not get a house, we could pay off all of our credit cards and be almost debt-free (minus the HUGE medical bill we will be paying forever) in about a month. How amazing will that feel, guys? I can't even imagine going to pay bills and not having to pay all those credit cards, thinking that a lot of that money is just getting wasted in interest. So, we will be renting for another year, but maybe (hopefully) next year will be the year that God says "go for it" when it comes to buying or building. Yep, that's that.

I honestly don't feel like uploading any pictures today. Sorry.

What a Year!

Wow. It is almost 2011. This has been such an exciting year. I would like to make a post about specific exciting things that happened every month, but honestly, everything has all run together. I honestly don't even remember what Art and I did last New Year's Eve. I am sure it involved alcohol. Haha. This New Years, Art is sadly not even home. He has such a ridiculous job schedule. I am sure I will address that in later posts because it has kind of been a huge deal in my life.

Here are a few key things I remember about this year...

In February, we got a puppy named Moses. I hated him. A LOT. I decided that getting a dog while living in an apartment was the worst thing I had ever agreed to do, even though I had begged Art to get me a puppy for months. He is almost a year old now, and I have come around. He is a smart, well-behaved yellow lab, and he tries his best to entertain me while Art is away.

In May, one of my very best friends got married. It was my first wedding to be in, and I am still so happy for her. The dress I wore in the wedding was empire waist, and the way it fell on my body made it look like I had a belly. I remember joking with another one of my good friends that I was pregnant. I thought about how Art would die if that was true. At that point in our lives, he was planning on going back to college to get a more conventional job. He said the only thing that would stop him was if I got pregnant. A few days after that wedding, I found out that I was pregnant. Funny how life works. More funny the plans that God has for us when we don't have any clue.

In June, our lease was up at our first apartment. We spent our first year of marriage in a one bedroom apartment. We didn't think we would need more room in that first year, but we both underestimated that large amount of stuff that comes when you combine two lives into one. We moved to a two bedroom apartment that was on the first floor of a complex. We were thrilled about this first floor business because our last apartment was on the third floor. (Please don't get me started about how frustrating it is to drag a million bags of groceries up all those stairs when Art is at work.) Soon after moving into our new place, I started getting really sick. We found out just a short month and a half later that the place was full of mold, so in August we had to pack up and move again!

In November, we started looking for houses. We have found two great potential neighborhoods to build in, so we are now in the process of figuring that out. It is still mind blowing to me that we are old enough to purchase something as huge as a house.

December was a month that went by so quickly. My birthday is in December, and even though Art wasn't here on the actual day, he still made sure it was very special. He got me a ring I had been wanting forever. He also got me an iPhone, which has been entertaining to say the least. We had our first baby shower. I love showers... At least the ones that are for me. Haha. It's like another birthday, except this time all the gifts were for baby Trae. Then there was Christmas. Let me tell you why this was so special. I mentioned that Art has a very different work schedule. Up until this Christmas, we had never spent a holiday together. NEVER. Well, this year he was lucky enough to be off of work for Christmas. It was wonderful. We went to Oklahoma to be with my family and had a great time. Not to mention, I got this great little computer that I am typing on right now. My last one took a rather unfortunate walk with me in the rain.

Those were just a few of the many, many events that happened in the last year. I hope all of you have a very happy and safe New Year.
